I’ve grown my hair out (even down to my booty for some time) multiple times in my life so far, and currently doing it again, so you could see how I know some things about good hair growth!
To help you all out too, I’m going to put you on to my hair growth guide, that is of course vegan and cruelty free friendly, to help you on your own hair growth journey.

Hair Growth Guide – Vegan/CF Friendly
I’m just going to start with the star & holy grail, which is Rosemary oil.
While Castor oil can be good too, for my scalp hair, I absolutely prefer Rosemary oil diluted in water, and sprayed on. It is a lot less oily and gross, and 1000% worked for me. I keep Castor oil for my lashes and brows.
I use these two exact products here:
If you want, you can absolutely add some Castor too, but from my experience, Rosemary works great all on it’s own.
Also, don’t forget your ends. As your hair is growing, you need to nurture the rest of your hair too! A different oil (current fave sweet almond) goes on my length and ends, and I either put it up in a bun or braids for the day/night.
How often should you do this?
I always at least spray some Rosemary on my scalp at least 30 mins before washing.
For a full oil, I typically do 1-2 times a week. Once at the start and once right before the weekend.
Additional Tips
If you want long, healthy hair (cause the best hair isn’t just long, its healthy also!), make sure you limit using heat on your hair (in shower and with styling), practice gentle hair care and styles, and limit processing/dying.
I do heatless curls almost every night and only do a blowout like once a week when really needed.
In shower, I know it may be hard to break, but super hot water isn’t good for your skin or hair. Try cooling down to a warm instead of hot temperature.
Be gentle when brushing, combing, and styling. Try not to secure your hair too tight for long periods of time.
A lot of us want a different look (myself included – I’m a bottle blonde lol) but try not to go overboard or change/process your hair too much.
Also, your nutrition and hydration also plays into your hair health and growth. Eating a nutritious, healthy diet (plant based, vegan best!), and keeping hydrated are essential.
And last but not least, using a gentle, rice water included shampoo bar (that is also vegan, cf, and plastic free/eco friendly!) is important!
I have been using this one from Viori for years now. LOVE.
