When I come across incredible looking recipes around socials, not all are vegan, and my first thought is – I NEED to veganize that ASAP.
And when a @HolmesCooking recipe popped up on my feed, that was my immediate response. It is finally time to make a vegan buffalo mac!
With fall coming up soon, all the comfort and crockpot meals will be coming out, and this is perfect to add to your rotation.
& yes this can easily be made gluten free as well. I’ve done it both ways and it has turned out amazing. Let’s keep it simple and get right into it.

Vegan Buffalo Mac
Can be made in crockpot or in baking dish (oven). I used my small 2qt crockpot to make just the cheese sauce and dump it with everything else after, or you can use a bigger one to put the other parts in there all together. I’ve made it both ways – it turns out great either way!

Ingredients:
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Garlic and onion powder to taste
- Half to whole small bottle of vegan buffalo sauce depending on taste pref
- Equal amount of vegan ranch
- 8oz vegan cream cheese
- 8oz vegan sour cream
- Vegan cheeses (cheddar and mozz best IMO) approx 8 oz of each (Rec Daiya cheddar block and mozz sticks)
- Jar garlic 1-2 tbsp
- 1-2 bags of Gardein grilled chikn or 1-2 blocks of tofu prepped like chickn (post coming soon about this!)
- Vegan parmesan to taste if desired (FYH or Violife rec)
- Approx half a box of pasta (Barilla gluten free if doing GF)
- Garnish of choice (I usually choose Parsley!)
This is definitely super easy, so it’ll probably be the shortest instructions ever lol.
- Dump all the cheeses, sour cream, seasonings, everything except for the vegan “chickn” of choice, vegan parm, garnish, and pasta of choice.
- If using a crockpot, either do high for 2-3 hours, or low for a few hours longer. I don’t recommend leaving this in super long as everything is just basically melting together and theres no food safety issue.
- If baking in the oven, itll probably take a half hour to 45 mins depending on temperature for everything to melt and cook together. Keep an eye for when it looks ready and then you can add the rest.
- Prepare your vegan “chickn” and pasta of choice. For gluten free, I 1000% recommend Barilla Gluten Free as their options are simply the best!
- Shred your vegan “chickn”, and combine that, your pasta, and your cheese sauce all together.
- Add your vegan parm, mix, and top with the garnish of your choice. Done ~
