High maintenance to be low maintenance has been a thing more lately, and I’ve been on at home beauty maintenance for a couple years now. So I’m here to bring some of my best tips for easy, great looking beauty and life tips for those of us who like to look good simply.
Not to mention, it saves SO much money and time to learn to do your own beauty maintenance at home.
Plus, making it a little beauty ritual by grabbing a coffee and doing things for yourself is top tier vibes.

At Home Beauty
Doing your own at home beauty maintenance is amazing because you can do it on your own time (no scheduling appts), you can ensure the products are vegan & cruelty free, use affordable products, and do things exactly how you want them.
Plus learning how to do things you are comfortable with are great beauty skills to learn! & the money you save can go towards services that you do like or need to pay for.
Hair

Let’s start with a big one – hair. Many of us can’t do a perfect haircut ourselves (definitely me – I do get it cut at a salon), but I will trim my bangs here and there, and do some treatments and color.
When I was blonde, at home purple toning treatments were a life saver. If you are a cool toned blonde, it is essential – and no need to keep running to the salon for touchup/tones.
Now that I’m dark hair again, let me put you on to the best thing that saved me while the icky remaining underlying blonde grows out. The dpHUE Gloss+ color deposit conditioning treatment is saving my sanity as I grow out my natural hair, and blend my greys until I figure out what I want to do next with it. You can see in the example photo just how big of a difference it made (that dark strand I tested first is how well this product WORKED). Temporary, washes out, no damage or commitment. Or running to the salon for touchups.
Nails
Unless you go truly all out with your nails, there are so many great, improved resources for at home nails these days.
Even though I’m a polish and not a press on girlie, its my understanding that even gel and press on nails have improved incredibly over time. & not to mention the options out there are endless!
When it comes to me though, these are my current faves at the moment plus some top rated I found. The first one is the newest color I got which is the most perfect cool toned greige brown I’ve ever found! Plus some gorgeous press ons and gel I’ve come across with amazing reviews.
Lashes
Now we are getting into my all time favorite topic – lashes. 100% a lash girl for years and always see myself being one lol.
As long as I have my lashes – I’m GOOD. It’s been a process learning and perfecting, but these days I’m very proud of my work. & for a self critical person, thats huge.
The cruelty free and vegan statuses can be a bit vague and not clear for a lot of products in this category, but what I’m using now is some of the clearest I’ve found. Plus the ones I have my eyes on next that I have to share around.
Hair removal
While a lot of people are moving to at home laser removal, I still have been a wax and partial shave girlie. I’ve heard it works well, but not something I have wanted to invest in just yet.
Plus I personally really do like waxing. The smoothness and amount of time between just doesn’t compare yet for me personally.
Even if you don’t like the pain or want to do full body, even partial wax of certain areas can save you so much time and effort from daily shaving.
(This can pertain to plucking/waxing eyebrows, underarms, bikini line – are all my bare minimums)
Only thing to really watch though is that a lot of Amazon waxes are not vegan (even though some claim they are??). Weird, but I’ve been trying to contact about that issue more to hopefully force clarification on these products.
Skin Treatments/Care
Spa days are amazing, but again, at home care in this area is great for many reasons. You choose the products, take as much time as you need, choose what you want to do.
From face masks, to light therapy, anti aging treatments, etc, the control and choices are yours.
As a girlie in her 30’s, its mainly face masks, bath soaks, and anti aging focused, but I really do want to try red light therapy soon too!
Pedicure
Continuing on partially about nails, some of that can be used on this topic as well, and then some more.
While you can go all out with a foot bath, tools, foot specific products, even being simple with your tub, your usual lotions/oils, and polish colors can be enough if that is how you vibe.
I am typically a tub girl, and I now use my glass foot file (obsessed), and usually a french tip style for the polish style. But I will sometimes match my hands or just do simple, black.
If you like this area and want to invest more (like with a foot bath, soaks, moisture socks), that is wonderful as well.
